| His favorite sleeping place |
He's finally here! Grayson Ty was born on Sunday, August 19th at 9:28am. He weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. He cried the second he was out and was absolutely perfect. I was having pretty regular contractions all day Saturday and was SURE he was coming that day. So Andy and I went to town cleaning the house. Then I sat down, put in a movie and they pretty much stopped. "You've got to be kidding me" was my exact thought. I mean, he was already 2 days past his due date. So we went to dinner with the Flygare's, came home and went about our usual night. I woke up at about 2:30 to use the bathroom but couldn't go back to sleep because I was still having some contractions and they were getting harder. And 3:30 Owen woke up and wanted me to lay by him. I laid there for about an hour, when I went back to bed I knew I wasn't gonna sleep because they were hard enough to keep me up so I went out to the kitchen, ate some yogurt while reading a magazine and decided to time how far apart the contractions were...4 minutes. I woke Andy up at 5:00 and told him to call his mom. He said "Why?" (He was out of it) Then he realized and about 5:30 his parents were here to stay with Owen and we were off (after finishing my cereal...I knew they wouldn't let me eat once I got there and I was hungry...WARNING, don't do that! One contraction was so hard that it finished and I threw all my cereal up anyway!) I was checked in at 6:00 and dilated to a 6. It only took three and a half hours to be complete and 4 contractions of pushing to get him out! Not too bad.
We were able to come home Monday morning and things have not been too bad. Gray has been the best baby. He learned to nurse quickly and sleeps like a champ (our first night home he slept 7 hours!) He eats about every 3-4 hours and only cries when he's hungry or needs a diaper change.
Owen has done pretty well with the change considering the major adjustment it is for him. He LOVES Grayson. He always wants to "see the baby" or "hug him" and hold him and give him kisses. It's me he's being tough on. He now wants me to do EVERYTHING and throws a fit if dad has to help. He's said some super cute things though. The first few days, whenever I'd feed Gray, Owen would say "don't lick the mommy! don't lick the mommy!" Then one day he said that then came and licked my knee, and hand and the couch. Another time I was holding Grayson and Owen was next to me and I must have bumped Gray's head on Owen's leg then Owen said, "sorry dude"...So cute. Then whenever Gray makes a noise that sounds like a toot or burp he says, "scuse (excuse) you Grayson" One day I put Gray in a short sleeve top so his hands were out for the first time (He was scratching his face all up with those sharp baby nails so I had to keep them covered) Owen came and stroked his hand a few times, then spread Gray's fingers out and said "High five" Now everytime Gray cries Owen goes and VERY loudly says, "What's the matter? What's the matter?" Oh how he loves his "baby budder" and we love our perfect, sweet boys!

Love the name. Congrats!
It sounds like everything went well and relatively easy with sweet Grayson's birth. I'm so happy for you and he's so precious!! I was just in Utah 2 weeks ago and missed you, but I'll be back in town again in a couple weeks and I'd love to come see you guys! Maybe you'll be up for visitors :o) I hope you are getting plenty of rest and recovering quickly!
Yay!! Congratulations!! Gray is soooo cute. I love those new little baby sounds. You look way too good in your pictures to have just had a baby. Don't lick the mama! I literally laughed out loud.
