catch up

How do 2 months pass by just like that and it's suddenly 2013? Well I'm going to do everything in one post because I've got no ambition to do one post...let alone multiple. Unfortunately I'm terrible at taking pictures so there are few.

November...
Grayson turned 3 months old. That cold that he and Owen got at Halloween unfortunately took away my awesome sleeper and left him waking A LOT in the night. It didn't help that the pack 'n play crib in our room swayed so he wouldn't sleep for more than half an hour in it. I eventually just started sleeping with him in our bed. That left Andy and I very tired. We finally just moved the real crib into our room (like 2 days ago) and he's out of our bed. We are sleeping better. He still is only sleeping ok.  I actually don't even know how many times or how long he goes between awakenings because I stopped looking at the clock.  I'm guessing about every 3 hours, give or take a half hour. During the day he eats about every 2 hours and naps several times for about an hour.

We had a pre-thanksgiving dinner with Andy's family before on the Tuesday before. Thanksgiving was held at Jake and Monica's house. I took my camera and then left it in the car. We had lots of delicious food and great company. After eating some of us played nintendo. Well, Andy and Madi played Halo or some game like that. Then I kicked them off and Madi, Kristie and I played dance central. I think I worked off the food I ate (or at least a couple slices of pie).

Andy and I celebrated our 6 Year anniversary by going to Elements (Oh my goodness the food is to die for! Both of our desserts were heavenly and I've been craving to go back every since) and then to the movie. My mom and dad came to watch the boys. This was the same time that Gray decided he would not take a bottle and cried for most of the 4 hours that we were gone. We have not been on a date since :) Andy surprised me with the cute pea-coat I'm wearing but can't see in the only picture we took that night.

Abe and Arianne also had their 2nd baby boy, Crucian. We are excited that our babies are so close in age...now if we could get them to move back to Utah so they can play together!

December....
One day I watched Daxon and we made a rice krispie treat train that Grandma had bought, but was too sick to do. Owen mostly liked eating the decorating candies. I did most of the decorating because Daxon did a tiny bit then wanted to eat the rice krispie treats haha.

We had some snow to play in. Owen would ask everyday if he could go outside. This day I felt up to bundling everyone up and going out (I usually wait til Gray is asleep but then there is always something else going on)

Enjoying some brother time
Enjoying bath time alone. That happens rarely. Either he is in with Owen or bot Owen and me because It's just easier that way. Gray turned 4 months and is officially wearing 6 month size clothing. Some of the pjs he wears didn't fit Owen til his was 8-9 months old. So funny. I love it. He reaches and grabs toys now and LOVES chewing on his fingers (actually he always has) He will not take a binky. Cries if I try.  He really never liked the binky but would take it once in a while at first, but not at all now. Generally he doesn't cry a lot so it's not really necessary. And nice that I won't have to break the habit (someone help me...I think it may traumatize Owen when I take his...don't judge...I don't let him have it in public and usually it's only for sleeping).
Christmas Eve/Christmas. Grandma Flygare made the boys matching pj pants (I don't even have a picture...so sad) And after their visit we had some picture taking of our little family by the tree.

Christmas morning Andy's family came over to watch Owen open his gifts. Every gift he unwrapped and then said, "OOOOH!! A BOX!!!" So easily pleased.  Now whenever anyone asks what Santa brought him he without fail says, "A BOX!" He got some finger painting supplies (which he doesn't particularly like because he doesn't like having dirty hands hahaha) A t-ball set. a punching clown (he calls it a powpow and loved it, til it got a hole and lost air and the sand detached and it wouldn't pop up anymore...it got returned) The Lorax and Magic School Bus series (also loves) and a bunch of other random things. Gray got a play mat with a piano he kicks and makes music with. He loves it. The first time I put him on it and he laid contently for almost an hour (early morning while I stayed in bed...mother of the year, I know) Andy and I decided to get food storage for ourselves. Boring. But we were happy about it. Andy did get me a certificate for a massage (haha, I tell him like every day that I need one) And I gave him some padded bike shorts.

Just starting to paint and about 5 seconds after this picture he asked to go wash his hands

In December I also finished the 3 month training program I started in October to try and get back into shape post-baby. It actually was amazing. I loved my trainer and the program and feel like I had pretty good results despite not following a very strict diet (Food is my weakness). I'd love to keep doing it but have to figure out a better schedule (mid day is when my trainer teaches and I have to find a babysitter. Early morning is tough with a baby that wakes up at night still and I hate working out at night...I'm far beyond tired by that point. :( So for now I'm working out at home) It actually ended right before Christmas and I feel like I totally undid all my work in the 2 weeks of holiday food binging! YUCK!

And now for the New Year! Didn't technically make resolutions, but have some ideas of things I'd like to improve. Like eating healthier...of course to help lose the rest of my baby weight. Be a better mom. Improve my life spiritually (I'm weak...I find it difficult to read my scriptures when the babies are not around because I'm usually so tired that I just want to sleep or veg out on the couch without using my brain...gotta be better). Oh and as of the last week or so Owen is potty-trained with the exception of nap and bed time. How do you night train?? Anyone have tips? We really didn't push him too hard. He picked it up pretty quickly on his own schedule and does awesome now! We rarely have accidents unless there are cousins to play with and I forget to ask him. He is hilarious. I wish I could just record him all day long. I really should write down everything because I know I'm going to forget, but I try to enjoy it while it's happening. And Grayson is rolling a lot more. Usually just from back to belly then cries because he doesn't really know how to roll back. Oh and he laughs...the only one that ever gets really good gut laughs from him is Owen. He loves his brother! I think that catches me up. My brain is too tried to remember if I missed anything.

Oh and as some random info. Andy quit his traveling job with Traeger (actually before I had Gray) and started a couple companies. One is doing indoor advertising and the other doing medical pendants for the elderly. It's going really well so far and he enjoys it. He works from home and sets his own hours which is so nice! We love having him around a lot. I'm lucky I have such an ambitious, hardworking husband so I can stay at home with my kiddos. We've definitely been blessed this last year and are exciting to see what the new year brings. Hope everyone else is safe and happy as well.

What cute and silly little boys. That Owen is such a crack up. Andy sounds BUSY but that's awesome his companies are doing so well.

As for night training--I didn't do anything. I just kept putting Kaylee in diapers until she eventually started waking up on her own dry. I know people that let them wake up in a wet bed so they learn but seriously, I'm not about all those wet sheets and laundry. It didn't take her too long to catch on. I bet Owen will catch on in no time.

I didn't know Andy quit his job. That is so great that he was able to transition into something so quickly and with something that will work better for your family. Congratulations you two (four!)!
